White Pine Studio

Welcome to White Pine Studio!

White Pine Studio is located in Ottertail County. MN, a beautiful place where prairie and glacial lakes combine to create a wonderful place to live and create art. The studio is located on a 120 acre former dairy farm that is rural enough that you would have to be very lost to simply stumble across it. Even though we are in a very rural part of Minnesota there is a thriving arts community here: We just measure our distance apart in miles instead of blocks.

My name is John Michael Olesen.  I am White Pine Studio.  (Technically I’m 50% of White Pine Studio, Inc. and my wife Kathy is the other 50%).  In the spring of  2002, Kathy and I moved from Minneapolis/St Paul to our current location. Over the summer of 2002, Chad Balster (a glass artist) and I built the studio out of an old hay shed on the farm.   We fired up September 2002 and have been here ever since.
